NRG Stadium will play host to a Sunday afternoon NFL clash between the Carolina Panthers and Houston Texans. The Panthers scored 41 points in two losses with Cam Newton calling signals and rolled to a 38-20 road victory against Arizona with Kyle Allen directing the offense last week. The Panthers outgained the Cardinals by a substantial 413-248 margin and forced two turnovers on the afternoon.
Kyle Allen completed 19 passes for 261 yards and four touchdowns. Veteran TE Greg Olsen was on the receiving end of six passes for 75 yards and two scores. Christian McCaffrey rushed for 153 yards and a score for the Panthers.
The Houston Texans could very well be undefeated if not for an opening night loss at New Orleans on a 58-yard field goal as time expired. On Sunday, Houston rallied from a ten-point halftime lead to score a huge 27-20 road victory against the Los Angeles Chargers. Deshaun Watson completed 25 of his 34 passing attempts for 351 yards and three touchdowns.
Houston DE J.J. Watt recorded two of his team’s five sacks of veteran QB Phillip Rivers. The Texans won despite rushing for just 39 yards on 19 carries.
