NY Giants at Washington Football Team 9/16/21 - NFL Picks & Predictions

The week two NFL schedule will kickoff with a Thursday night matchup between the New York Giants and the Washington Football Team from FedEx Field. The Giants lost seven of their first eight games last season and stumbled out of the gate on Sunday with a 27-13 home loss versus Denver. New York was outgained by a 420-314 margin and allowed the Broncos to possess the ball for 35 minutes.

New York QB Daniel Jones threw for 267 yards and scored a four-yard rushing touchdown as time expired. Sterling Shepard hauled in seven passes for 113 yards and a score for the Giants.

Despite winning just seven games in 2020, the Washington Football Team is the defending NFC East Division champion. On Sunday, Washington lost starting QB Ryan Fitzpatrick to a hip injury during a 20-16 home loss versus the Los Angeles Chargers. Washington was outgained by a 424-259 margin and allowed the Chargers to convert 14-for-19 on third down.

Taylor Heinicke replaced Fitzpatrick, completing 11 for 15 of his passes for 122 yards and a touchdown. RB Antonio Gibson rushed for 90 yards on 20 carries in a losing effort for the Football Team.

New York TE Evan Engram (calf) did not play in the season opening loss and is listed as questionable for this game. Washington struggled to move the ball on Sunday, but have a more talented roster than New York. On a short week, take the better team at home. Final Score Prediction, Washington Football Team win 24-17.
