The New York Jets visit the City of Brotherly Love on Friday to play the Philadelphia Eagles in the opening game of the 2022 NFL preseason for both teams. Last season the Jets were last in the AFC East at 4-13 but have higher expectations entering this season.  New York's offense made several moves during the off-season but will have Zach Wilson as the starting quarterback and re-signed Joe Flacco as his backup. New York added Tyler Conklin and C.J. Uzomah at tight end. Rookie Breece Hall is likely to start the regular season as the No. 1 running back but could see limited action during the preseason.

New York made three draft selections out of the first 24 picks, which included defensive back Sauce Gardner, wide receiver Garret Wilson and defensive edge rusher Jermaine Johnson II. New York also signed defensive back DJ Reed and safety Jordan Whitehead along with defensive linemen Solomon Thomas and Jacob Martin. New York's front four will be backed up by a strong linebacker corps and a much deeper secondary after drafting Gardner and signing both Whitehead and Reed.

The Philadelphia Eagles finished the 2021 NFL regular season second in the AFC East at 9-8. Philadelphia looks to reach the postseason for the second straight year under quarterback Jalen Hurts. Philadelphia drafted Nebraska center Cam Jurgens to help with pass protection for Hurts as well as opening holes up the middle for the running game but will likely start the season behind veteran Jason Kelce who retired and unretired during the offseason.

Philadelphia added to its already strong defensive front four with the addition of Jordan Davis from the Georgia Bulldogs, who will learn from veterans such as Javon Hargrave and Fletcher Cox. The Eagles also added to their defensive strength with the signing of free-agent linebacker Hassan Reddick and also signed linebacker Kyzir White. Philadelphia was 10th overall in total yards allowed last season and the defense is expected to be even stronger in 2022.

The Philadelphia Eagles have added much depth to their already strong defensive unit and even though several of the starting 11 will not play or will be limited to the number of minutes they play, expect the Eagles to control this game on the defensive side of the ball. Philadelphia starting quarterback Jalen Hurts is not likely to see action under center. The Jets have several new players via free agency and the draft and many of them will see action on Friday but the Eagles defense will dictate this matchup and outcome. Final Score Prediction, Philadelphia Eagles win and cover ATS 23-13.
