New York Giants at New England Patriots 8/11/22 - NFL Preseason Picks & Predictions

Last Updated: 08/05/2022 at 9:27 PM ET

The week one NFL preseason schedule will kick-off with a matchup between the New York Giants and the New England Patriots from Gillette Stadium. The Giants (4-13) have suffered through five consecutive double-digit losing seasons and are expected to finish at the bottom of the NFC Division once again. New York has improved their offensive line to protect turnover-prone QB Daniel Jones.

RB Saquon Barkley has failed to stay healthy in his first few years in the league, but the talent is there. WR Kenny Golladay is the top weapon in the passing game and will look to bounce back from a subpar season.

The New England Patriots are no longer the top team in the AFC East Division, but figure to push the Buffalo Bills. Second year QB Mac Jones outperformed the rest of the rookie QB class, throwing for 22 touchdowns and 13 interceptions. New England features one of the top offensive lines in football and will lean on a power running game.

The Patriots finished the 2021 regular season ranked fourth in total defense and second behind the Bills allowing just 17.8 points per contest. Former Baltimore DE Matthew Judon racked up 12.5 sacks in his first year in New England.

New York TE Ricky Seals-Jones has missed several practices due to an undisclosed injury and is unlikely to see any action in this game. Rookie head coach Brian Daboll has been on the New England coaching staff for two stints and will likely be looking to impress his former boss. Take the Giants to win on the road. Final Score Prediction, New York Giants win 20-14.
