New Orleans Saints 2020 Preview - NFL Odds, Picks, & Betting Predictions

The New Orleans Saints finished the 2019 regular season with an overall record of 13-3 and won the NFC South by six games over both the Atlanta Falcons and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Saints under the leadership of veteran head coach Sean Payton and star quarterback Drew Brees are expected to battle with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for the division title in 2020, which may be Brees’ final season under center for New Orleans.

Brees will start under center for the Saints but will have both Taysom Hill and Jameis Winston as backups.  Alvin Kamara starts once again at running back for the Saints and Latavius Murray will see plenty of action in different offencive packages, while Michael Burton will be the fullback. The NFL's best wide receiver Michael Thomas returns for the Saints and the receiving corps also includes Emmanuel Sanders, Tre’Quan Smith, Maurice Harris, and Deonte Harris. Jared Cook gives the Saints one of the NFL’s best receiving tight ends.

Last season, Brees missed five games but passed for 2,979 yards, 27 touchdowns and just four interceptions while Kamera rushed for 797 yards and five touchdowns and caught 81 receptions for 533 yards and one touchdown. Thomas caught 149 passes for 1,725 yards and nine touchdowns. The offensive line returns almost intact from last season with Terron Armstead, Andrus Peat, Cesar Ruiz, Nick Easton and Eric McCoy amongst others.

The New Orleans Saints defense will be much stronger against the pass this season as Cam Jordan is one of the best edge rushers in the NFL and what have alongside him Marcus Davenport. The Saints have 100 sacks in the last two seasons combined with most of those coming from the edge  and added depth on the line including Trey Hendrickson, Mario Edwards Jr., Carl Granderson and Noah Spence help to make up one of the NFC's best defensive front fours.

The Saints have one of the best linebackers in the NFL in Demario Davis. AJ Klein was lost to free agency but the Saints drafted linebacker Zeke Baun out of Wisconsin and also have Alex Anzalone, Kiko Alonso, Greg Robertson and Kayden Elliss amongst others. New Orleans has one of the best tandems at cornerback in Janoris Jenkins and Marshon Lattimore which gives the Saints a big advantage over most teams. However a lack of depth could hurt the Saints at cornerback if either Lattimore or Jenkins become injured. At strong safety Marcus Williams will start while Malcolm Jenkins will be the starting free safety and the backups will include Chauncey Gardner-Johnson, DJ Swearinger and JT Gray.

The New Orleans Saints will not win the NFC South by six games as they did last season, but expect the Saints to finish the season atop the Division following a season-long battle with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers who are now led by Quarterback Tom Brady. The offense of the Saints is just too strong for their divisional opponents with Drew Brees, Alvin Kamara, Michael Thompson and Jared Cook leading the skills positions. New Orleans will finish the 2020 regular season with an overall record of 12-4
