New England Patriots at Pittsburgh Steelers 9/18/22 - NFL Picks & Predictions

The New England Patriots visit Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on Sunday to play the Pittsburgh Steelers. New England opened its regular season with a 20-7 loss on the road against the Miami Dolphins. New England was held to 271 yards of total offense and turned the ball over three times. New England quarterback Mac Jones suffered a back injury and is questionable for Sunday.

Mac Jones has passed for 213 yards with one touchdown and one interception, while the leading rusher for New England is Damien Harris with 48 yards. Jakobi Meyers is the leading receiver for New England with 55 yards. On defense, Ja’Whaun Bentley is the leading tackler with seven and Bentley is one of three players with 1.0 quarterback sacks. New England did not intercept a pass in the first game of the season.

Pittsburgh opened the regular season with a 23-20 overtime victory against the Cincinnati Bengals. Pittsburgh kicked the winning field goal as time ran out in the overtime period. The Steelers were held to 267 yards of total offense. Pittsburgh gave up 432 yards of total offense to Cincinnati but the Steelers forced five turnovers by the Bengals, which helped stop Cincinnati drives.

Mitch Trubisky has passed for 194 yards with one touchdown, while the leading rusher is Chase Claypool with 36 yards. Tight end Pat Freiermuth is the leading receiver for Pittsburgh with 75 yards. On defense, Minkah Fitzpatrick is the leading tackler with 14, while Myles Jack has 10. Alex Highsmith is the leader in quarterback sacks with 3.0 and four players for Pittsburgh each have one interception.

Pittsburgh will improve to 2-0 with a victory at home over New England on Sunday. The Steelers gave up too much on defense but will be up against a New England team that does not have the offensive weapons that Cincinnati had and could be playing without its starting quarterback Mac Jones. Pittsburgh was workmanlike on offense and will grind out enough drives to put up enough points and pick up the win at home. Final Score Prediction, Pittsburgh Steelers win and cover ATS 20-17.
