The first full day of EURO 2024 matches takes place on Saturday across Germany. Hungary vs Switzerland, Spain vs Croatia and Italy vs Albania will keep soccer fans on the edge of their seats.

Hungary vs Switzerland (Cologne, FuboTV)

Hungary finished at the top of its group during qualification and has played well leading up to this tournament. The Hungarians defeated Israel 3-0 in its most recent match. Switzerland was second in Euro qualifying and has been playing well the last year. The Swiss battled to a 1-1 draw versus Austria in its most recent match. Switzerland has won six of the last nine matches head to head with Hungary but this will be the first meeting between the two in international tournament competition since Hungary defeated Switzerland 2-0 in the 1938 World Cup.

Prediction: Hungary 2-1

Spain vs Croatia (Berlin, FOX)

Spain takes on Croatia in Berlin on Saturday in the first match for both in EURO 2024. Spain was first in their group qualification and under manager Luis de la Fuente have become a better unit across the board. Spain defeated Northern Ireland 5-1 in its most recent match. Croatia was second in its qualifying group for the tournament and defeated Portugal 2-1 in its most recent match leading up to this tournament. Spain has won the EURO championship three times and has lost just twice in the last 22 matches in open-play at the EURO tournament. Young talent such as Pedri and Lamine Yamal have performed well for Spain and will face a Croatia side that is in transition, which will give La Furia Roja a big advantage in this opening match for both.

Prediction: Spain 2-0

Italy vs Albania (Dortmund, FOX)

Italy will begin its title defense on Saturday when playing Albania. The reigning champions battled to a scoreless role with Turkey followed by a 1-0 victory over Bosnia and Herzegovina earlier in June. Italy is unbeaten in each of its last six matches across all competitions. Albania did not qualify for Euro 2020 but was the leader of their group in this year's qualifying even after losing their first two matches in their qualifying stage. This will be only the fifth time these two have met across all competitions, with Italy winning all four of the previous matches. Italy defeated Albania 3-1 in the most recent head-to-head match in 2022. The Azzurri arrive for the tournament in good form with victories in three of four matches during 2024 and have held clean sheets in each of the last three matches. Italy will be without stars Marco Verratti, Ciro Immobile, Sandro Tonali and Domenico Berardi, but have plenty of other talent and will be hard to beat on Saturday.

Prediction: Italy 3-0
