The Lions opened their preseason game against the Patriots. While that may seem like it would be a good idea because the Patriots may not be ready to play, it was definitely a mistake. The Patriots completely dominated the Lions and showed the league that the Lions still did not learn from their lack of defense last year as the Patriots put in 31 points and only allowed 3 points.

Leading the way for the Lions in the game was David Fales who went 5-14 with only 62 yards and a pick. Ty Johnson carried the ball 3 times for 22 yards, which was impressive for the Lions rushing attack against the Patriots running defense. The Texans are coming into this game after losing a heart breaker to the Packers. The loss was a lot closer than what the scoreboard would lead you to believe, but it was still a loss. The good news is the Texans offense was able to come roaring back late in the game with 16 points that went unanswered, but the Packers still managed to get the 2 point win.

Joe Webb III was the leading rusher and main quarterback for the Texans in this game. He looked really impressive as he went 25-40 with 286 yards in the game with a touchdown, but he ended up being picked off twice in the game. When it came to rushing he ended up carrying the ball 6 times for 47 yards.

The Texans looked really good against the Packers and really looked like they had a good chance of pulling out a win, definitely if the 4th quarter had been a bit longer. However, the Lions, for their part looked downright horrible and do not look like they have improved at all on the year from last season. Look for the defense to struggle again in this game as the Lions cannot stop the opponent. Final Score, Houston Texans win and cover ATS 31-10.
