The Chargers and the Bengals are both going to be looking to break in a new quarterback this year. Both of the teams picked up a highly touted rookie to help lead the team this season, but the Bengals picked up the first draft pick and the Chargers had to pick up a quarterback with the 6th pick in the draft. However, the Chargers definitely were a more complete team before the draft and that could definitely continue in the season here.
With the Chargers the team is going on the road to face the Bengals and for the first time in a long time will not have Philip Rivers to lead the team. The long time quarterback has left the team, but the Chargers also lost Russell Okung the powerful left tackle. Another big time loss the Charges have is Melvin Gordon who went to Denver.
Cincinnati is coming in with the loss of a couple of key players on the offensive side of the ball. One of the players the Bengals lost in free agency was Andy Dalton. However, another player that the Bengals lost was Tyler Eifert. Granted, Eifert was injured more than being on the field. The Bengals in the free agency game did not add a lot of players, but instead is relying on the draft to help them out.
When it comes to the quarterback battle this will be an interesting game as the Chargers are looking to top pick Justin Herbert to help them out. Justin had a very successful career in Oregon, but the Bengals will rely on Joe Burrow. Burrow for all the standout that he had in the last season of his college career may have some issues as he does not have the same level of players that LSU had, but also will be called upon to transition quickly.

The Bengals defense is questionable at best. The Bengals have not been able to bring out their defense at all in the past few seasons, but the offense has not been able to keep pace with the defensive lapses and that led to the red rocket taking the fall. Look for nothing to really change this year as the Bengals defense struggles and was not really retooled on the year. Final Score Prediction, Los Angeles Chargers win and cover ATS 24-10.
