Kansas City Chiefs at Houston Texans 12/18/22 - NFL Picks & Predictions

The Kansas City Chiefs travel for a matchup against the struggling Houston Texans. The Houston Texans nearly pulled off the biggest upset of the season but fell to the Dallas Cowboys 27-23 on Sunday. The Cowboys scored the game’s final 10 points, including Ezekiel Elliott’s touchdown run with 41 seconds remaining, to survive. 

Houston has been horrible this year and the 1-11-1 record is the stamp. The Texans haven’t been able to get anything done this season. Injuries have plagued them all year. Houston is averaging just 16.2 points per game while allowing 24.2 points. The offense is averaging 303.2 total yards with 213.3 yards from the air. The ground game has not really been able to establish itself. Don’t really see things changing in the upcoming game against the Chiefs. 

The Chiefs (10-3) experienced something of a survival themselves, holding off the Denver Broncos 34-28 after taking a 27-0 lead. Kansas City took the foot off the gas and almost gave up the game. Patrick Mahomes ended the game with 352 passing yards, 3 touchdowns and 3 interceptions. Jerick McKinnon had a big game with 6 rushes for 22 yards, 7 receptions for 112 yards and 2 touchdowns. 

Kansas City is looking to get the bye week but are tied with Buffalo currently in the standings. The Chiefs are scoring 29.5 points and averaging 434.6 total yards per game. The defense is giving up 364.5 yards a game. Patrick Mahomes is having a good year with 4,160 passing yards on the season and 33 touchdowns. Rookie RB Isaiah Pacheco is leading the backfield with 591 rushing yards and 3 rushing touchdowns so far this season.
