Kansas City Chiefs at Chicago Bears 8/13/22 - NFL Preseason Picks & Predictions

On Saturday, the Kansas City Chiefs visit the Chicago Bears at Soldier Field for the opening game of the NFL 2022 preseason for both teams. Last season Kansas City finished 12-5 and was first in the AFC West. Kansas City's starters such as Patrick Mahomes, JuJu Smith-Schuster and Clyde Edwards-Helaire as well as other skills position players will likely see little action on Saturday. Kansas City's backup quarterback Chad Henne will see plenty of action on Saturday

Chiefs head coach Andy Reid takes a conservative path with regard to using his starters during the first game of each preseason. Usually Chiefs’ starters last for only one series before being pulled for the game. However, on the defensive side, expect Kansas City to have starters such as rookies Joshua Williams, Trent McDuffie, Leo Chenal and George Karlaftis seeing plenty of action on Saturday in both the first and second half.

The Chicago Bears finished third in the NFC North in 2021 at 6-11. Chicago Bears new head coach Matt Eberflus has already announced that he will play his starters on Saturday against Kansas City. Quarterback Justin Fields as well as former Kansas City wide receiver Byron Pringle will see action on offense, while defensive end Robert Quinn will have playing time on the other side of the line of scrimmage. Chicago backup quarterback Trevor Siemian will also see plenty of action on Saturday.

Chicago has to find capable replacements for offensive players such as wide receiver Allen Robinson and running back Tarik Cohen. Pringle is expected to take over the spot left by Robinson at wideout. On defense, linebacker Roquan Smith has asked to be traded and is not likely to see any playing time. Several new players were signed, drafted or re-signed by Chicago on defense and those players will get plenty of playing time against the Chiefs.

Chicago will play its starters much longer than Kansas City on Saturday, but the final outcome will still be Kansas City winning on opening night of the preseason at Soldier Field. The Chiefs added wide receivers after losing Tyreek Hill during the offseason and have added players on the defense as well, which will make the Chiefs tougher this season than last. Kansas City has covered the number in four out of the last five head-to-head against Chicago. Final Score Prediction, Kansas City Chiefs win and cover ATS 24-17.
