Jaguars at Patriots 1/21/18 - AFC Championship Game Picks & Predictions

The road to the Super Bowl will run through Foxboro once again, when the Jacksonville Jaguars visit the New England Patriots on Sunday afternoon in the AFC Championship Game. On Sunday, Jacksonville’s offense exploded during a 45-22 road victory over Pittsburgh. The Jaguars scored 28 points during the first half and outgained the Steelers on the ground by a 164-83 margin. Rookie RB Leonard Fournette rushed for 109 yards and three touchdowns on the afternoon.

During the regular season, Jacksonville ranked 6th in total offense and scored at a 26.1 point clip. New England has struggled at times on defense, ranking fourth worst in yards allowed and surrendering 18.5 points per game. The defending Super Bowl Champion New England Patriots won 13 games and outscored their opponents by 162 points during the regular season. Last weekend, New England shook off some early rust and rolled to a 35-14 home victory versus Tennessee. The Patriots outgained the Titans by a 438-267 margin in total yards and 31-15 in first downs. Tom Brady threw for 337 yards and three touchdowns on the night.

For the season, New England ranked first in the league in total yards and scored 28.6 points on average. Jacksonville should be up to the challenge with a defense that ranks 2nd in yards allowed and gives up just 16.8 points per game.

New England RB Rex Burkhead (knee) was inactive for the divisional round and is listed as week-to-week. New England is making their seventh straight appearance in the conference championship game, while Jacksonville is making their first appearance since 1999. The Patriots showed that they were able to shake off the distractions last weekend and will do so again on Sunday. Final Score Prediction, New England Patriots win and cover ATS 30-17.
