Jacksonville Jaguars - 2019 Season Preview

After winning just five games in 2018, the Jacksonville Jaguars have made some moves and are hoping that they can turn things around. The offense ranked second worst in scoring at 15.3 point per game, so the Jaguars signed 2017 Super Bowl MVP Nick Foles to provide a significant upgrade over Blake Bortles. WR Dede Westbrook has shown flashes of being an explosive playmaker and will likely take the next step with Foles at the helm.

For the Jaguars to return to the postseason, RB Leonard Fournette has to bounce back from an injury plagued 2018 campaign. Fournette will run behind an offensive line that has talent, but also plenty of questions marks.

The Jacksonville defense did not play up to expectations last year, thanks in part to injuries and an inept offense that kept them on the field. The Jaguars selected DE/LB Josh Allen with the 7th pick of the NFL Draft and he should provide an immediate boost to the pash rush. Jacksonville is tremendously talented on the defensive front and should wreak havoc all season long.

Jacksonville CB Jalen Ramsey talked at a level higher than he played a season ago and should be motivated to prove that he is still among the elite at his position. The Jaguars lost LB Telvin Smith to a surprising early retirement and will count on LB Myles Jack to be a playmaker.

The Jacksonville Jaguars reached the AFC Championship Game in 2017 and have the potential to make it back with a more proven quarterback. Fournette has to stay healthy and keep the defense fresh. I like Indianapolis to win the AFC South, but look for Jacksonville to jump ahead of Houston in the standings and exceed their season win total. Final Season Prediction, Jacksonville Jaguars Over 8 Wins.
