Indianapolis Colts 2019 Season Preview - NFL Picks & Predictions

Last Updated: 08/13/2019 at 10:43 AM ET

The Indianapolis Colts enter the 2019 season with plenty of reason for optimism. Franchise QB Andrew Luck answered the questions about his throwing shoulder by throwing for close to 4,600 yards and 35 touchdowns last year. Luck plays behind arguably the best offensive line in football and all five starters will return.

The Indianapolis skill players do nothing to wow most observers, but the offense still managed to rank seventh in yards gained. WR T.Y. Hilton is Luck’s favorite target in the passing game and RB Marlon Mack had several big games down the stretch a season ago.

The Indianapolis defense entered last year as an unproven bunch, but made plenty of strides. The Colts ranked 11th in yards allowed and gave up 21.5 points on average in 2018. Second year LB Darius Leonard came out of nowhere to rack up 163 tackles and seven sacks in his rookie campaign.

Indianapolis needs to do a better job getting after the opposing QB, so they drafted OLBs Ben Banogu and Bobby Okereke in the first three rounds of the draft. CB Rock Ya-Sin was the first pick for the Colts and should start from day one.

There is so much to like about this Colts’ squad. They have an MVP candidate at QB, a top flight offensive line, and superb coaching. The only thing not to like is a schedule that could prove extremely tough. Take Indianapolis to run away with the AFC South Division and reach the AFC Championship Game.
