Texans vs Colts Picks and Prediction – 9/8/2024

The Houston Texans come into the 2024 season looking to repeat off last year's success. Houston was perhaps the most shocking team in football last season finishing the year winners of three of the last four at 10-7 overall the Texans made the playoffs before their season ended on the road in the divisional round against Baltimore. CJ Stroud had a fantastic rookie season taking home NFL offensive rookie of the year honors. Stroud completed 319 passes for 4108 yards and 23 scores in 15 games a year ago. The Houston offense will again be one of the best in football this season as Stroud now has the experience and knowledge of an NFL season under his belt period to go along with an elite young quarterback the Texans will lean on running back Joe Mixon and all pro ride receiver Stefom Diggs who was traded for in the off season. Defensively Houston signed 14 free agents in the offseason and will return defensive rookie of the year Will Anderson Jr. The Houston defense will be better than it was a year ago with all the new faces giving Houston another shot at a playoff berth.

The Indianapolis Colts come into the 2024 season with a home game against a divisional rival. Indianapolis finished last season 1 game above .500 after dropping three of the last five to miss the playoffs. Anthony Richardson is expected to be back at the helm for Indianapolis this season after playing just a few games as a rookie before season ending shoulder surgery. Jonathan Taylor will be in the backfield with Anthony Richardson seemingly 100% ready to roll heading into the 2024 season. The offensive line and skill players on the Indianapolis offense should carry their weight as well setting the Colts up for success this year.

Defensively Indianapolis was mediocre last season and will be somewhat the same this year. The Colts did resign Zaire Franklin this offseason so an anchor in the middle will still be present. To go along with Franklin the Colts have a variety of other top tier talented players stretching from the defensive line into the secondary.

The Houston Texans are the better team in this matchup as they are deeper and more talented on both sides of the ball. Look for Houston to control this matchup against a divisional foe kicking off the season.
