Packers vs Eagles Picks and Prediction – 9/7/2024

In Friday night NFL action, the Green Bay Packers and the Philadelphia Eagles will square off from Corinthians Arena in Sao Paolo. Be ready for the entire NFL season with our free NFL Picks. The Packers (9-8) showed plenty of offensive flashes last season and QB Jordan Love (32 TD) looks to be the centerpiece. Green Bay lacks a true number one wide receiver option, but has plenty of talented options. RB Josh Jacobs was signed in free agency to replace Aaron Jones. 

Green Bay will look to replace several key contributors from a middle of the pack defense that allowed 20.6 points per game. The Packers feature the tremendous edge rushing duo of Rashan Gary and Preston Smith, who combined for 17 sacks.  

The Philadelphia Eagles won 10 of their first 11 games to start the 2023 season, but collapsed down the stretch and lost a Wild Card game at Tampa Bay. The Eagles (11-6) have been one of the most explosive offenses in the league since inserting Jalen Hurts at quarterback and signed RB Saquon Barkley in the offseason. A.J. Brown and Devonta Smith are a dynamic pass-catching duo, but it remains to be seen if Hurts can progress enough as a passer to take advantage of their skill sets.

A big reason for Philadelphia’s demise a year ago was their inability to stop opposing offenses. Newly hired DC Vic Fangio inherits a talented defensive line, but must revamp the secondary. The Eagles selected defensive backs Quinyon Mitchell (Toledo) and Cooper DeJean (Iowa) with their first two draft picks. 

Philadelphia TE Dallas Goedert is battling an oblique injury and is listed as questionable for this contest. These two teams feature plenty of firepower on offense, so we could be in store for a shootout. Take the Eagles to come out strong with a victory in the season opener.
