Falcons at Vikings 9/8/19 - NFL Picks & Predictions

The Minnesota Vikings will host the Atlanta Falcons for their first game of the season on Sunday afternoon. The Vikings went 3-1 through the preseason losing only week 4 of action. Minnesota is set for QB Kirk Cousins to take the reigns this season. Cousins played in three of the four preseason games throwing for one touchdown and no interceptions. The Vikings last played the Falcons in 2017 when they won 14-9.

The Vikings will rely on strong defensive play again this season. Cousins looks comfortable with the offensive but his targets may be a bit limited this season. Dalvin Cook couldn't find any momentum running the ball this preseason which puts even more pressure on Cousins and the wide receivers.

The Atlanta Falcons won their last preseason game against the Jaguars but that was their only win. Veteran starting quarterback Matt Ryan played in two preseason games. Ryan did not throw for a touchdown or an interception. Ryan was sacked three times this preseason but is healthy heading into 2019.

The Falcons bring back Matt Bryant out of retirement in hopes he can win some games for them. The Falcons have a ton of options at their skilled positions but will the offensive line be good enough. Atlanta is in for a huge test as the Vikings defense will be fast and sending a lot of pressure.

The Vikings defense at home will be good enough to give their offense enough chances. Minnesota will be a good home team this season and have the edge against this Falcons team in week 1. The Falcons have failed to cover the spread in their last four games against the Vikings. Final Score Prediction, Minnesota Vikings win and cover ATS 28-21.
