Eagles at Redskins 12/30/18 - NFL Picks & Predictions

The Philadelphia Eagles will look to keep their playoff hopes alive when they visit FedEx Field to tackle the Washington Redskins on Sunday afternoon.

The defending Super Bowl Champion Eagles need to win and Minnesota to lose to clinch a playoff spot. On Sunday, Jake Elliott kicked a 35 yard field goal as time expired to lift Philadelphia to a 32-20 victory versus Houston. Nick Foles threw for 471 yards and four touchdowns for the Eagles.

Through fifteen games, Philadelphia ranks 13th in the league in total offense and is scoring 22.9 points on average. Washington counters with a middle of the pack defense that allows 352.9 yards and 22.3 points per game. The Washington Redskins won six of their first nine games and were sitting atop the NFC East Division standings. Injuries have derailed the Redskins, who are now a game below .500 overall and have been eliminated from postseason contention. On Saturday, Washington was outscored by 13 points during the fourth quarter of a 25-16 road loss at Tennessee. Adrian Peterson rushed for 119 yards for the Redskins, who were intercepted for a touchdown on the final play of the game.

For the season, Washington ranks 28th in the league in total offense and is scoring just 18.7 points per game. Philadelphia comes into the final week of the regular season with a defense that ranks 27th in yards allowed and gives up 23.2 points on average.

Pittsburgh QB Carson Wentz (back) did not play on Sunday and is unlikely to suit up for this matchup. The Eagles defeated the Redskins in Washington by a 28-13 final score earlier this season. Look for Philadelphia to get the job done, but fall short of the cover. Final Score Prediction, Philadelphia Eagles win but fall short ATS 23-20.
