Dolphins at Buccaneers 8/16/19 - NFL Preseason Picks & Predictions

The Miami Dolphins are set to visit Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida for a preseason clash against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Miami Dolphins come into his matchup with a 1-0 record, and they will be looking to continue their success after winning their first preseason game against the Atlanta Falcons, 34-27. Josh Rosen had a fairly solid outing in his first game as a Miami Dolphin as he went 13 for 20 with 191 yards and 1 interception. Preston Williams had a big first game as an NFL WR as he had 4 receptions for a total of 97 yards.

The Miami Dolphins may have won their first preseason game, but they will need to be much better on the defensive side of the ball as they gave up 27 points to the Falcons. Nik Needham had a big game from the secondary for the Miami Dolphins as he contributed a team-high 5 tackles and 2 pass deflections. Dewayne Hendrix had a big game from the defensive line for the Miami Dolphins as he pitched in 2 sacks and 1 TFL. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers come into this matchup with a 0-1 record, and they will be looking to rebound after dropping their first preseason game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, 30-28. Ryan Griffin had a big game for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as he threw for 330 yards and 1 TD. Spencer Schnell is looking to earn a spot in an open WR position battle, and he is in the right direction after contributing 119 receiving yards.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers need to be much better on the defensive side of the ball moving forward in the preseason as they gave up 30 points to the Steelers. Kevin Minter led the way for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers from the LB spot as he contributed a team-high 6 tackles. Caleb Nassib and Deone Bucannon were strong on the pass rush for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as they contributed 1 sack apiece.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have dominated the Miami Dolphins ATS as of recent as they have covered the spread in 6 consecutive meetings. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers offense was very impressive during the 1st preseason game, especially veteran QB Ryan Griffin. The Buccaneers showed that they have a ton of weapons for the backup QBs and given the fact that the Dolphins allowed the Falcons to throw for 233 yards I don’t feel comfortable backing them here. The Dolphins are allowing Josh Rosen to get as many reps as possible, and he has still struggled to prove himself to me as an NFL QB. Final Score Prediction, Tampa Bay Buccaneers win and cover ATS 24-17.
