Denver Broncos at New England Patriots 10/18/20 - NFL Picks & Predictions

On Sunday, the Denver Broncos visit Gillette Stadium to play the New England Patriots in a game that was postponed from Week 5 due to positive covid19 results back on players from the Patriots. The Broncos are 1-3 following a 37-28 victory over the New York Jets in Week 4. The victory snapped a three-game losing streak for the Broncos. Denver was told on Sunday morning that its scheduled game for Monday against New England had been pushed back to next Sunday.

Drew Lock has passed for 236 yards with one touchdown and one sack and is expected to return to action against the Patriots on Sunday. The leading rusher for Denver is Melvin Gordon with 281 yards and three touchdowns.  Jerry Jeudy is leading Denver in receiving with 234 yards and one touchdown, while tight end Noah Fant has 219 yards receiving and two touchdowns. On defense, linebacker Josey Jewell has a team-high 30 tackles.

New England is 2-2 following its 26-10 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs during Week 4. The Patriots were held to just 357 yards of total offense in the loss to Kansas City. Brian Hoyer started at quarterback for New England in place of Cam Newton who was sidelined due to a positive covid-19 test. Hoyer lasted just the first half and passed for 130 yards in one interception before being replaced by Jarrett Stidham. New England also played without running back Sony Michel, who was put on injured reserve and is out indefinitely.

Cam Newton is expected to return for this game Sunday and has passed for 714 yards with two touchdowns, two interceptions and has been sacked five times. With Sony Michel sidelined, Newton is the leading rusher with 149 yards and four touchdowns and Rex Burkhead has 128 yards rushing and two touchdowns. The leading receiver for New England is Julian Edelman with 294 yards but has not caught a touchdown reception as of yet. On defense, safety Adrian Phillips has a team-high 25 tackles.

Both Denver and New England have several injuries to players on both sides of the ball. Quarterback Drew Lock is expected to return to start under center for Denver while Cam Newton could possibly return for New England if testing negative for Covid. The Patriots will be tough to beat at home regardless of who is starting at quarterback, as Denver has lost five of its last seven straight up on the road. In addition, the Broncos have failed to cover six of their last eight against an opponent from the AFC East. Final Score Prediction, New England Patriots win and cover ATS 24-17.
