Denver Broncos 2019 Season Preview - NFL Picks & Predictions

Last Updated: 08/13/2019 at 10:43 AM ET

The Denver Broncos won five straight AFC West Division titles from 2011-2015, but have failed to reach the postseason the last three years. For team president and Hall of Fame QB John Elway, finding a franchise QB is imperative. The Broncos traded for a Super Bowl winning QB in Joe Flacco and drafted Missouri QB Drew Lock in the second round.

The Broncos upgraded their offensive line to protect Flacco, but lack playmakers in the passing game. Look for Denver to lean heavily on a running game that features the duo of Philip Lindsay and Royce Freeman.

Denver took a major step back in defense last season and fell into the bottom third of the league in yards allowed. The Broncos drafted Bradley Chubb with the fifth pick in the 2018 draft and he rewarded them with 12 sacks as a rookie. Von Miller continues to be a ferocious edge rusher and has recorded 98 sacks in 120 career games.

The secondary should be improved with the return of Chris Miller, who missed time at the end of last season with a broken leg. Kareem Jackson was signed in free agency from Houston to start opposite Miller, along with slot corner Bryce Callahan.

Denver was 109-24 at home starting with the 1995 season, but have split their last 24 home games. Flacco looks motivated to prove his doubters wrong, after losing his starting gig in Baltimore to Lamar Jackson. Look for Denver to be in the playoff hunt and exceed their season win projection. Final Season Prediction, Denver Broncos Over 7 Wins.
