Dallas Cowboys 2019 Season Preview - NFL Picks & Predictions

Last Updated: 08/13/2019 at 10:43 AM ET

The defending NFC East Division champion Dallas Cowboys are still considered America’s Team despite not winning a Super Bowl since 1996. Head coach Jason Garrett takes a lot of the criticism for the Dallas failures, but he deserves plenty of credit for turning a 3-5 start into a ten win season. Fourth year QB Dak Prescott is looking for a major contract extension, but does not deserve $30 million dollars a year.

The Cowboys’ offense revolves around workhorse back Ezekiel Elliott, who rushed for eclipsed 2.000 yards from scrimmage a season ago. WR Amari Cooper was acquired in a trade with Oakland and was a major part of the Dallas second half turnaround.

While there is plenty of talent on the offensive side of the ball, it was the Dallas defense that ranked in the top ten overall. DE Robert Quinn was brought in from Miami to give the Cowboys balance in their pass rush opposite All-Pro DE DeMarcus Lawrence.

The strength of the Dallas defense is without a doubt at the linebacker position. Rookie LB Leighton Vander Esch started just 11 games and finished third in the league with 113 tackles. Sean Lee and Jaylon Smith round out the group and have All-Pro talent.

A closer look at the numbers, reveal that the Cowboys were 9-2 in games decided by one score. There is reason to believe that would even out this year, but I am a believer in the top-end talent on this squad. Look for the Cowboys to repeat as NFC East Division Champions and go over their win total projection. Final Season Prediction, Dallas Cowboys Over 9 Wins.
