The Indianapolis Colts are set to visit Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California for an AFC clash against the Los Angeles Chargers. The Indianapolis Colts struggled during the preseason as they went 1-3, and they have a huge problem on their hands as they lost their franchise QB in Andrew Luck. The Colts struggled on the offensive side of the ball throughout the preseason as they only averaged 10.8 PPG which ranked 25th in the NFL. Indianapolis will go through growing pains this season as their offense will have a new look but expect their defense to keep them in a few games this year.

The Indianapolis Colts will start veteran backup QB Jacoby Brissett who was solid in his limited preseason action as he completed 10 of his 15 pass attempts for 121 yards and a TD. The Indianapolis Colts did not receive much action out of their defensive starters this preseason, but they still return most of the same starters and there are high expectations for Darius Leonard in his sophomore campaign.

The Los Angeles Chargers struggled during the preseason as they went 1-3, and a huge reason for that was their defensive problems as they allowed opponents to score an average of 20.8 PPG which ranked 23rd in the NFL. There are high expectations for the Los Angeles Chargers this season as they made the postseason last year, but they will most likely be without their all-pro RB in Melvin Gordon as he is holding out.

The Los Angeles Chargers did not play their starting QB Phillip Rivers at all this preseason, but he is expected to have yet another big year as he is going into this 15th season in the NFL. The Los Angeles Chargers did not play many starters in the defensive side of the ball this preseason, but they lost their star safety in Derwin James who suffered a foot injury. Rookie LB Drue Tranquill had a good preseason as he contributed 23 tackles and forced 1 fumble.

The Los Angeles Chargers have dominated the Indianapolis Colts ATS as of recent as they have covered the spread in 7 of their last 9 meetings. The Indianapolis Colts have to replace their franchise QB in Andrew Luck, and I don’t think they will have success in doing that as he was an MVP-caliber talent. The Los Angeles Chargers have problems of their own with Melvin Gordon, but they have some capable backups and a very dangerous air attack. The Chargers have been traditionally good when playing in their home stadium, and I think the fans will get behind the home team as there is a hope for a successful season. Final Score Prediction, Los Angeles Chargers win and cover ATS 31-13.
