Cleveland Browns - 2019 NFL Season Preview

There is plenty of hype surrounding the Cleveland Browns entering the 2019 NFL season and for good reason. The Browns pulled off one of the biggest moves of the offseason, by landing dynamic WR Odell Beckham Jr. in a trade with the Giants. Former college teammate Jarvis Landry will provide a perfect compliment for second year QB Baker Mayfield in what should be an explosive passing offense.

The Browns ranked in the middle of the pack in rushing in 2018, but figure to be even better this season. Second year RB Nick Chubb has shown that he is more than capable of carrying the load. Former Kansas City RB Kareem Hunt will return after a suspension in week 10 to give the Browns a pass catching option out of the backfield. For Cleveland to become an elite team in the league, the defense must make significant improvements. The Browns have one of the most talented defensive ends in football, Myles Garrett, who recorded 13.5 sacks a season ago. Cleveland traded for Olivier Vernon to provide an above average rush partner on the opposite side.

Second-year CB Denzel Ward has displayed shutdown skills and is quickly becoming one of the best cover guys in the league. The Browns drafted CB Greedy Williams from LSU to start on the other side. If the defense has a weakness, it is definitely at the LB position.

The Cleveland Browns have the longest current postseason drought in the league, with their last playoff game coming in the 2002 season. It might be hard to imagine a franchise that has been so dreadful for that long to turn the corner, but the Browns seem ready. Take Cleveland to be right there with Baltimore to win the AFC North. Final Season Prediction, Cleveland Browns Over 9 Wins.
