The Chicago Bears visit the Tennessee Titans on Saturday for the final game of the 2021 NFL preseason for both. Chicago is 1-1 in the preseason following its 41-15 loss at home to the Buffalo Bills on Saturday. Former Chicago Bears quarterback Mitchell Trubisky led the Bills to four touchdowns against the Bears defense that did not have many regulars on the field. On offense, Chicago quarterback Andy Dalton passed for 146 yards with one touchdown and one interception while playing the entire first half.
The first four Chicago drives by the Dalton-led offense resulted in no first downs. That resulted in Chicago fans serenading the club with boos during the second quarter but rookie Justin Fields was greeted to wild applause when starting the second half. Fields passed for 80 yards and rushed for 46. Chicago is expected to split time between Dalton and Fields on Saturday but the Bears will have Dalton as their starting quarterback when the regular season starts.
Tennessee is 2-0 in the preseason following its 34-3 thrashing of the defending Super Bowl champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers. It was announced on Sunday that Titans head coach Mike Vrabel had tested positive for covid-19 and will go into quarantine pending more testing. Tennessee's victory over Tampa Bay was against a Buccaneers offense that did not have Tom Brady on the field.
Titans starting quarterback Ryan Tannehill did not play and has not yet appeared in either of the first two Titans preseason games. However, Tannehill is expected to play on Saturday against Chicago. Elijah Molden and Caleb Farley, both rookies, debuted in the defensive secondary for Tennessee and will see plenty of action on Saturday against Chicago, as will most of the members of the Titans starting defense.
