Broncos at Rams 8/24/19 - NFL Preseason Picks & Predictions

On Saturday the Denver Broncos visit Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum in Los Angeles, California to play the Los Angeles Rams. The Broncos fell to 1-2 in the preseason following a Monday night 24-15 loss to the San Francisco 49ers. Broncos quarterback Drew Lock jammed his thumb when sacked during the second half and was replaced by fellow rookie Kevin Hogan. Joe Flacco made his first appearance in front of Denver fans. The Broncos QB completed 7 of 11 passes for 59 yards.

Los Angeles is 0-2 in the preseason after losing to Dallas 14-10 in Week 2. The game was played in Hawaii but several of the Rams starters including quarterback Jared Goff remained back home in LA. Blake Bortles started for LA and was 7 for 11 for 62 yards and one touchdown. The Rams only other score was a 29-yard field goal by Greg Zuerlein. Goff is expected to start on Saturday at home against Denver.

Joe Flacco has thrown for 137 yards and one touchdown and will be Denver’s starting quarterback when the season begins. The leading rusher for Denver during the preseason is Devontae Jackson with 50 yards, while Royce Freeman has rushed for 49. The leading receiver for Denver is Khalfani Muhammad with six receptions for 34 yards, while Nick Williams has caught four receptions for 45 yards.

Blake Bortles has thrown for 112 yards and one touchdown and is expected to win the backup quarterback job behind Jared Goff, who has yet to play during the preseason. The top rusher for the Rams during the preseason is Darrell Henderson with 29 yards. Nsimba Webster leads all Rams receivers with seven receptions for 65 yards, while Jalen Green has four receptions for 43 yards.

Both teams are expected to play starters for the first half and possibly into the second half. The Rams will have their potent air attack on display with Jared Goff seeing his first action. Denver’s defense will get its first real test in Saturday’s game. The Rams will have the advantage playing at home and with a much better offense than the Broncos and a defense on par with that of Denver.
