Bengals at Seahawks 9/8/19 - NFL Picks & Predictions

The Cincinnati Bengals are set to visit CenturyLink Field in Seattle, Washington for a Week 1 clash against the Seattle Seahawks. The Cincinnati Bengals struggled during the preseason as they went 1-3, and a big reason for that was their defensive struggles as they ranked 27th in the NFL in points allowed. There isn’t much hope that the Cincinnati Bengals will a .500 team, but they are looking to rebuild their franchise with the first step being a young coach like Zac Taylor.

The Cincinnati Bengals will start veteran QB Andy Dalton who had an inconsistent preseason as he only connected on 19 of his 28 pass attempts for a total of 220 yards, 1 TD, and 1 interception. The Cincinnati Bengals have struggled on the defensive side of the ball in recent history, and all signs are pointing to that being a struggle once again. The Bengals have high hopes for 2nd-year safety Jessie Bates who had big-time flashes last season.

The Seattle Seahawks had a solid preseason as they went 3-1, and they were fundamentally sound on both sides of the ball as they ranked in the top half of the NFL in offense and defense. There are high hopes that the Seattle Seahawks will once again make a postseason push as they have added weapons on both sides which could make them a contender in a wide-open NFC.

The Seattle Seahawks will have their franchise QB under center in Russell Wilson, and he had a solid preseason in limited action as he connected on 12 of his 18 pass attempts for 155 yards. The Seattle Seahawks will once again be very good on the defensive side of the ball as they will return all-pro LB Bobby Wagner, but they recently added to an already potent defense by trading for Jadeveon Clowney.

The Seattle Seahawks are a common sleeper pick in the NFC as they have a veteran QB as well as one of the best defense in the NFL. I had the Seahawks ranked in the top 5 in terms of defensive units and their addition of Clowney makes them arguably the best unit. The Bengals have struggled over the last few seasons, and I don’t think much will change this season as they don’t have the necessary weapons to compete in a tight division like the AFC North. The Seahawks will eat up Andy Dalton and force turnovers which will put Russell Wilson and the offense in a good position at home. Final Score Prediction, Seattle Seahawks win and cover ATS 34-14.
