Baltimore Ravens at New York Jets 9/11/22 - NFL Picks & Predictions

The Baltimore Orioles visit MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey on Sunday to play the New York Jets in the opening game of the NFL regular season for both teams. Baltimore will be coming off its 23rd consecutive preseason victory. The Ravens are led at quarterback by dual-threat Lamar Jackson, who last season passed for 2,882 yards with 16 touchdowns and 13 interceptions while rushing for 767 yards and two touchdowns but played just 12 games.

Baltimore's 3-4 defense will be led up front by Calais Campbell and Justin Maduike as the starting defensive ends and Michael Pierce as the nose tackle. Linebackers Patrick Queen and Josh Bynes will start on the inside while Odafe Oweh and Daelin Hayes on the outside. Safeties Chuck Clark and Marcus Williams anchor a tough secondary. Marcus Peters is one of the best cover cornerbacks in the league and will play opposite Marlon Humphrey. Find out what defense teams are playing with our NFL previews.

New York has added key players during the offseason and is expected to be more competitive in the AFC East. Zach Wilson is listed as questionable but should start at quarterback. Last season as a rookie, Wilson passed for 2,334 yards with 9 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. Rookie Breece Hall. who played at Iowa State, will be the feature running back for the Jets this season. Elijah Moore and Corey Davis lead a talented wide receivers corps for New York.

New York's 4-3 defense will have John Franklin-Myers and Carl Lawson as the starting ends and Solomon Thomas and Quinnen Williams as the two starting tackles. Marcell Harris, CJ Mosley and Quincy Williams round out the starting front seven at linebacker for the Jets. New York's secondary is led by safeties Jordan Whitehead and LaMarcus Joyner while rookie Sauce Gardner starts at one corner opposite D.J. Reed.

While Baltimore will pick up a victory on the road to begin the regular season, New York will play well enough at home to cover the number. Baltimore has failed to cover the number in four the last five as road chalk and the Ravens have failed to cover the nut in eight of the last 11 as chalk overall. New York has added talent to its running attack as well as its wide receiver corps through the draft and offseason acquisitions and that will be evident by covering the number on Sunday. Final Score Prediction, Baltimore Ravens win but fall short ATS 24-20.
