Atlanta Falcons 2022-23 - NFL Schedule

The Atlanta Falcons finished the 2021-22 NFL regular season 7-10, which was third in the NFC South. The Falcons were 2-4 in division play, 2-6 at home and 5-4 on the road. Atlanta scored an average of 18.4 points per game last season, which was 26th and allowed an average of 27.0 points per game which was 29th. The Falcons rushed for an average of 85.4 yards per game which was next to last and passed for an average of 218.4 yards per game which was 16th.
Atlanta traded away quarterback Matt Ryan and will begin their first season since 2008 without Ryan under center. Atlanta is expected to start Marcus Mariota at quarterback. Last season Mariota appeared in only 10 games with the Las Vegas Raiders all of which were when games were out of hand or starting QB Derek Carr was injured for a play or two, completing one of two passes. Mariota has not played on a regular basis since the 2018 season when appearing in 14 games for Tennessee.
Cordarrelle Patterson will start at running back for Atlanta. Last season Patterson led the Falcons in rushing with 618 yards and six touchdowns. The leading receiver returning for Atlanta is Kyle Pitts, who caught 68 passes for 1,026 yards and one touchdown. Drake London, who last season played for USC and was drafted eighth overall by Atlanta, will be the team’s No. 1 receiver. Olamide Zaccheaus will be the second receiver for the Falcons.
Atlanta will play a 3-4 defense with Grady Jarrett and Marlon Davidson starting at each of the defensive end spots with Ta’Quon Graham starting nose tackle. The four starting linebackers will be Deion Jones and Rashaan Evans on the inside with Arnold Ebiketie and Lorenzo Carter outside. Dean Marlowe and Erik Harris will be the anchors at safety, with A.J. Terrell and Casey Hayward Jr. at the two corners.
