2020 NFL Draft - First Running Back Drafted Odds & Betting Predictions

The running back class of 2020 is deep. Several talented running backs highlight this year's class but just one is expected to be drafted during the first round of the NFL draft on April 23rd. Former Georgia running back D'Andre Swift is predicted to be the first running back selected. Swift rushed for 1216 yards and seven touchdowns while averaging 6.2 yards per carry. In addition, Swift caught 24 passes for 216 yards and one touchdown. The former Bulldogs star posted a 4.48 in the 40-yard dash at the NFL combine.

Jonathan Taylor has been running over opposing defenses for the last three seasons for the Wisconsin Badgers. The 5-foot-10 226-pound running back posted a 4.39 40-yard dash in the NFL combine. In 2019, Taylor rushed for 2003 yards and 21 touchdowns while catching 26 passes for 252 yards in 5 TDs. Taylor could easily be chosen before Swift, but that will all depend on the needs of the different teams as the draft unfolds.

Clyde Edwards-Helaire is considered one of the top three running backs in this year's NFL draft. Former LSU Tigers standout posted a 4.50 40-yard dash in the NFL combine. The multi-talented Edwards-Helaire is equally dangerous running the ball or receiving it out of the backfield. In 2019, Edwards-Helaire rushed for 1414 yards and 16 touchdowns while catching 55 passes for 453 yards and one touchdown.

Former Utah Utes running back Zack Moss is expected to be drafted in the top 5 of all running backs in the NFL draft. The 5-foot-9 223-pound Moss posted a 4.65 40-yard dash in the NFL combine. During the 2019 regular season, Moss rushed for 1416 yards and 15 touchdowns while making 28 receptions for 388 yards and two touchdowns.  Moss is expected to be drafted in the second or third round, although several NFL pundits have Moss going as high as the first round.

Former Ohio State Buckeyes running back J.K. Dobbins is expected to be one of the first five running backs selected in the NFL draft. The 5-foot-9 210-pound Dobbins posted a 4.50 40-yard dash in the NFL combine. Dobbins rushed for 2003 yards and 21 touchdowns in 2019, while catching 23 passes for 247 yards and a pair of touchdowns. if Dobbins has a weakness, it is protecting the ball, as the Buckeyes back fumbled three times during the 2019 regular season.

The 2020 running back class for the NFL draft is strong. The first five running backs are expected to be drafted between the first and third rounds while another five running backs are expected to be selected between rounds three and five. The first running back to be selected in the 2020 NFL draft will be D'Andre Swift. The former Georgia Bulldogs star has a great skill set that is topped off by his elusive speed that produced an excellent workout during the recent NFL combine and helped Swift rush for 1216 yards and seven touchdowns during the 2019 season.
