Strong performances at the NFL combine by the top offensive guards in college football make it difficult to determine who will be drafted first from that position in the upcoming draft on April 23rd. Nevertheless, Tristan Wirfs who played his college football with the Iowa Hawkeyes is considered one of the top five guards in the draft. The 6-foot-5 320-pound Wirfs ran an impressive 4.85 40-yard dash at the combine. Wirts’ versatility makes him a possible top choice at offensive tackle as well.

Shane Lemieux played his college football with the Oregon Ducks. The 6-foot-4 310-pound Lemieux ran a 5.11 40-yard dash at the combine. Lemieux has excellent size and quickness making him one of the top five choices on the list of guards in the NFL draft. Lemieux is not expected to be picked until the second or third round of the draft.

Netane Muti played his college football with the Fresno State Bulldogs. The 6-foot-3 307-pound Muti has struggled with injuries during his entire college career and entered the 2020 draft even though he has his senior year of eligibility remaining. During 2019, Muti missed nine games due to a foot injury and missed 12 games in 2018. The former Fresno State lineman uses quickness and a strong ability to sustain blocks on both running plays and pass protection making Muti an invaluable asset to an NFL offensive line.

Solomon Kindley played his college football with the Georgia Bulldogs. The 6-foot-3 337 pound Kindley is a strong run blocker and his athleticism makes him a solid pass protector. Kindley ran a 5.20 40-yard dash in the combine. The Georgia Bulldogs standout is expected to lose weight once joining the NFL as his weight caused problems against speed rushers during his collegiate career.

A big reason for the success of the national champion LSU Tigers in 2019 was guard Damian Lewis. The 6-foot-2 327-pound Lewis was one of the best blockers on the LSU offensive line. Lewis is a power blocker with a great deal of strength but could be limited due to his size and lack of athleticism. The former LSU Tiger is expected to be drafted between the third and fourth rounds.

Although Netane Muti and Shane Lemieux are considered the top two available offensive guards in the draft, the first OG chosen will be Georgia's Solomon Kindley. The Bulldogs standout played 13 games this past season starting in 11. In key games such as those against Florida, Texas A&M, Auburn and Baylor Kindley played every offensive snap. Kindley is a strong run blocker and improved tremendously over the last two seasons in his pass-blocking.
