2020 NFL Draft - First Defensive Player Drafted Odds & Betting Predictions

The NFL Draft is coming up quickly, but who will be the top defensive player picked up in the NFL Draft? That is a key question and definitely one that will be answered as the obvious answer comes in the form of Chase Young, the Ohio State standout. However, here is a quick list of the top 5 defensive players coming into the NFL Draft all who have a chance of bringing home the top pick on the defensive side of the ball.

Chase Young is an obvious choice for the top pick. Young has the motor that any defensive coordinator will love, but also has the stature and work ethic that reminds a lot of people of the Bosa brothers. Look for Young to be one player that a defense could be built around and know the team will last for years to come.

Jeffrey Okudah is definitely a high choice for a lot of teams as well. Okudah is the teammate of Young and a lot of teams would love to get both of them together again, but that is unlikely without some trades. The funny thing is Okudah is one player who could unseat Young if a team needs a shut down corner.

Isaiah Simmons is the leader when it comes to the linebacker position. The Clemson standout is the reigning Butkus Award winner and the ACC defensive player of the year. That proves that Simmons know how to play defense, but he also has a lot of talent that still needs to be finished up at the pro level, but the 4.39 speed definitely can help out.

If anyone can jump over Simmons it could definitely be the youngster in Patrick Queen. Queen came to fame with his play in the National Championship Game. Patrick Queen was the defensive MVP for LSU in the national title game. What is even better is any team that drafts Queen gets a young player who should be around for several years as Queen is not even 21 at the time of the draft.

Xavier McKinney is the leading prospect for the safety position. McKinney does come from the vaunted Alabama defense, but the Alabama prospect likely will not be the first pick in the draft. Granted, though, a strong player like McKinney will be a great pick for a team that needs to get a safety McKinney will be a great choice, but most likely not a top 10 pick for the defensive side of the ball.

The number one pick on the defensive pick in the NFL draft should be Chase Young. Chase Young comes from the highly vaunted Ohio State coaching staff, but at the same time Young also has the ability to contain the quarterback and chase them down. Both of those can easily shore up a defense that is questionable upfront and the ability to fight through the double teams definitely helps out any team that pulls in Young. First Defensive Player Picked in NFL Draft, Chase Young.
