Wizards at Hawks 1/26/20 - NBA Picks & Predictions

Last Updated: 01/26/2020 at 10:50 AM ET

Southeast Division foes will clash on Sunday evening, when the Washington Wizards visit the Atlanta Hawks. The Wizards (15-29) have dropped 18 of their 24 road games and trail Brooklyn by 3.5 games in the race for the final playoff spot in the East. On Thursday, Washington built a seven-point halftime lead and never trailed during the second half of a 124-112 road victory against Cleveland.

Washington G Bradley Beal tallied a game-high 36 points on 15-for-22 shooting and dished out eight assists. Ish Smith contributed 17 points and five assists off the bench for the Wizards.

The Atlanta Hawks are building for the future around the talented duo of Trae Young and John Collins. On Friday, Atlanta allowed Oklahoma City to score 33 points or more in each quarter of a 140-111 road loss. The Hawks (11-35) were dominated on the glass by a 57-41 margin and missed 25 of their 36 three-point attempts.

Atlanta F/C John Collins led all scorers with 28 points on 13-for-16 shooting and grabbed six rebounds. Trae Young added 26 points and 16 assists for the Hawks, who own the worst overall record in the East.

Washington rookie F Rui Hachimura is dealing with a groin injury and is likely out until next month. These two teams rank in the bottom five of the league in defensive efficiency, so the over is my lean on the total. The stronger play is on Atlanta to win at home. Final Score Prediction, Atlanta Hawks win and cover ATS 124-118.
