In the second game of a Thursday night NBA on TNT doubleheader, the Minnesota Timberwolves will invade Staples Center to take on the Los Angeles Lakers.
The Timberwolves have won consecutive games and trail the Clippers by two full games for the final playoff spot in the Western Conference. On Tuesday, Minnesota completed a home-and-home sweep over Phoenix with an easy 118-91 road victory. The Timberwolves dominated the Suns on the glass by a 74-48 discrepancy.
Minnesota F/C Karl-Anthony Towns tallied a team high 25 points to go along with 18 rebounds and seven assists. Andrew Wiggins chipped in 17 points and nine rebounds for the Timberwolves.
The Los Angeles Lakers have dropped consecutive games and have fallen a half-game out of eighth place in the Western Conference standings. On Monday, Los Angeles was torched by Klay Thompson (44 points) during a 130-111 home loss versus Golden State. The Lakers missed 15 of their 20 three-point attempts and shot 50 percent overall.
Ivica Zubac led five Los Angeles players in double figures with 18 points in 21 minutes off the bench. Brandon Ingram added 17 points and five rebounds for the Lakers.
