On Thursday, the Connecticut Sun (5-1) visit the New York Liberty (2-3) in a WNBA Eastern Conference showdown.
The Sun opened the season with five straight wins but were knocked from the unbeaten ranks by the Atlanta Dream 82-77 on Tuesday. In the loss, Alyssa Thomas led the Sun with 19 points, 17 boards and six assists.
New York lost its last outing 80-74 to Phoenix snapping a two-game winning streak. Tina Charles led the Liberty with 23 points, while Bria Hartley added 18.
Alyssa Thomas leads the Sun in scoring, rebounding and is second in assists with averages of 14.7 points, 11.0 rebounds and 4.7 assists per game. Jasmine Thomas is the fourth leading scorer and leader in assists averaging 12.5 points and 4.8 assists per game. In all, six players on the Sun are averaging double figures in scoring.
Tina Charles leads New York in scoring and rebounding with average of 23.8 points and 8.8 rebounds per game. The only other Liberty player averaging double figures in scoring is Kia Nurse with an average of 16.2 points per game. Bria Hartley leads the team in assists with an average of 4.8 per game. Tina Charles is shooting 47.2% from the field, hitting 50 of her 106 field goal attempts.
