On Tuesday, the Los Angeles Sparks visit the Indiana Fever in an early season WNBA showdown.
The Sparks opened their regular season with a 77-76 win on Sunday over the Minnesota Lynx in a matchup of last season’s two championship finalists. Despite playing without three of its post players, the Sparks defeated the defending WNBA champions. Chelsea Gray hit a driving layup to win the game for LA.
Indiana has lost each of its first two games after falling on Sunday 82-75 to the Washington Mystics. The Fever lost on Saturday 82-64 to the Chicago Sky. Indiana was led in scoring by 21 points from Natalie Achonwa, who also led the team in rebounding with 12.
After one game, Odyssey Sims leads the Sparks in scoring with 21 points per game. Nneka Ogwumike is the team leader in rebounds a 9.0 per game and second in scoring averaging 19.0 per game. Chelsea Gray scored 18 in the first game while handing out eight assists to lead the team.
Candice Dupree leads the Fever in scoring and is tied for first in rebounding averaging 13.5 points and 9.0 rebounds per game. Natalie Achonwa is second in scoring averaging 12.5 points per game and tied for first in rebounding averaging 9.0 per game. Erica Wheeler leads in assists with an average of 4.5 per game.
