In the first of a TNT NBA Doubleheader, the World Champion San Antonio Spurs will attempt to knock the Houston Rockets from the ranks of the unbeaten.

Last night San Antonio held on to defeat the Atlanta hawks 94-92 at home. Manu Ginobili made two free throws with three seconds left to give the Spurs the win. San Antonio led by ten at halftime and by as many as 17 in the first half, but gave the lead away in the second half mainly as a result of committing 19 turnovers. Tony Parker and Tim Duncan scored 17 points apiece to lead seven Spurs players in double figures.
The Houston Rockets have raced out of the gates to an NBA best 5-0 record. Through five games, Houston is outscoring their opponents by an average of 14 points. On Tuesday night, Houston impressively took down the Miami Heat 108-91 on the road. All-Star G James Harden led the way with 26 points and 10 assists for the Rockets. Harden was one rebound shy of a triple-double. Houston made 17 three pointers on the night, and to this point have scored more points on three point field goals than they have on two point field goals.

The Rockets are currently 5th in scoring offense and surprisingly 3rd in scoring defense.

Free NBA Pick:

Houston Rockets -3

Duncan and Parker both logged 35 plus minutes last night and I doubt they will be rested enough to keep up with the Rockets fast tempo. The Spurs appear to have some championship hangover despite the 2-1 start. San Antonio is 0-3 ATS to start the season and I will recommend continuing to fade them until we see them play like the Spurs of last season. Final Score Prediction, Houston Rockets win and cover ATS 106-98.
