Raptors at Celtics 1/16/19 - NBA Picks & Predictions

In the first game of a Wednesday night NBA on ESPN doubleheader, the Toronto Raptors will invade TD Garden to face the Boston Celtics.

The Raptors have won five straight games and are in possession of the best record in the league. On Sunday, Toronto was outscored by 14 points during the fourth quarter before pulling through to score a 140-138 double overtime victory at Washington. The Raptors out rebounded the Wizards by a 59-51 margin and shot 47 percent from the field.

Kawhi Leonard poured in a team high 41 points to go along with 11 rebounds and five assists. Pascal Siakam contributed 24 points and 19 rebounds for the Raptors. The Boston Celtics have lost three straight games and are still trying to figure out how to mesh an extremely talented roster. On Monday, Boston was outscored by 23 points during the third quarter of a 109-102 road loss against Brooklyn. The Celtics allowed 43 points in the quarter and were outrebounded by a 61-51 margin on the night.

Jayson Tatum tallied a team high 34 points on 12-for-19 shooting and grabbed five rebounds. Jaylen Brown added 22 points and six rebounds for the Celtics.

Toronto G Fred VanVleet (hip) and Boston G Marcus Smart (illness) are both being listed as questionable for this matchup. These two teams rank in the top seven in defensive efficiency, so the under is worth a look. The stronger play is on Boston to score a much needed victory at home. Final Score Prediction, Boston Celtics win and cover ATS 110-101.
