Two of the best big men in the league will tangle on Saturday night, when Anthony Davis and the New Orleans Pelicans visit Karl-Anthony Towns and the Minnesota Timberwolves.
The Pelicans have won three straight games and are currently three games behind Los Angeles for the final playoff spot in the West. On Wednesday, New Orleans shook off a sluggish start to score a 140-124 home victory versus Cleveland. The Pelicans poured in 81 points in the second half and shot 55 percent overall.
Anthony Davis led all scorers with 38 points to go along with 13 rebounds and seven assists. Julius Randle chipped in 17 points and eight rebounds for the Pelicans.
The Minnesota Timberwolves came into the season as playoff hopefuls, but have traded away All-Star G/F Jimmy Butler and fired head coach Tom Thibodeau. Last night, Minnesota fell to three games out of playoff contention after a 119-115 home loss versus Dallas. The Timberwolves outrebounded the Mavericks by ten and shot 46 percent overall.
All five Minnesota starters scored in double figures and were led by Karl-Anthony Towns with 30 points. Taj Gibson added ten points and 15 rebounds in a losing effort for the Timberwolves.
