Orlando Magic at Boston Celtics 10/4/21 - NBA Picks & Predictions

In Monday night NBA preseason action, the Orlando Magic will travel to TD Garden to take on the Boston Celtics. The Magic lost 51 of their 72 games a season ago and finished second worst in offensive efficiency. Former head coach Steve Clifford has moved on and Orlando hired rookie head coach Jamahl Mosley to lead the rebuilding effort.

Orlando selected G Jalen Suggs from Gonzaga with the number five overall draft pick and he has the potential to be an All-Star in the near future. The Magic will pair Suggs in the backcourt with Cole Anthony, who averaged 12.9 ppg and 4.1 apg a season ago.

The Boston Celtics finished a disappointing 36-36 last season and were bounced by Brooklyn in the first round of the playoffs. Head coach Brad Stevens moved into the front office as the president of basketball operations and hired Ime Udoka to replace him on the bench. The future remains bright for Boston with the talented wing combination of Jayson Tatum (26.4 ppg) and Jaylen Brown (24.7 ppg).

Stevens has been busy retooling the roster in the offseason. Enes Kanter and Dennis Schroder were signed in free agency, while Al Horford and Josh Richardson were acquired via trade.

Orlando F Jonathan Issac is recovering from left ACL surgery and is not expected to be ready for the season opener. The Magic will play several young players this season and I look for them to be hungrier than the Celtics in the preseason. Take Orlando to win on the road. Final Score Prediction, Orlando Magic win as the underdog 114-107.
