New Orleans Pelicans at Los Angeles Lakers 11/2/22 - NBA Picks & Predictions

The Los Angeles Lakers host the New Orleans Pelicans on Nov. 2 as these teams meet for the first time this season. The Pelicans swept the Lakers last season, winning all three games, including two in Los Angeles.

New Orleans is 4-2 overall thus far this season and is 3-1 on the road. Against the spread, the Pelicans are also 4-2 overall and 3-1 on the road. The Lakers are off to a dismal 1-5 start and have gone 1-2 at home. They are also 1-5 against the spread and 1-2 ATS at home.

The Pelicans last played Sunday, getting a 112-91 road win over the Los Angeles Clippers after being tied 52-52 at halftime. Zion Williamson had a double-double, scoring 21 points and grabbing 12 rebounds. He also had seven assists after missing the previous two games due to a hip injury. CJ McCollum led New Orleans with 22 points. The Pelicans hit 15-of-36 3-point shots.

The Lakers won for the first time this season their last time out, beating the Denver Nuggets, 121-110, on Sunday. LeBron James was the leading scorer with 26 points. Anthony Davis had 23 points and had a game-high 15 rebounds. Russell Westbrook played 32 minutes off the bench, scored 18 points, grabbed eight rebounds and dished out eight assists. James had six rebounds and eight assists.

New Orleans finished 36-46 overall and 25-27 in Western Conference to make the playoffs last season. Los Angeles missed the postseason at 33-49 overall and 18-34 in against Western Conference foes.

The Pelicans have scored 118.5 points a game this season, third highest in the league, compared to the Lakers’ 105.3 a game (29th). Los Angeles is eighth in points allowed per game at 110.5, but New Orleans is only four spots back at 111.3. New Orleans has youth on its side and has been playing quite well, while the Lakers veteran squad is off to a slow start. Youth wins out. Final Score Prediction: New Orleans Pelicans win 115-108.
