NBA Summer League Best Bets Wednesday 7/13/22 - NBA Picks & Predictions

The NBA Summer League continues to roll on Wednesday with 7 games across the board. With a host of young players still fighting for minutes and contract Wednesday brings a loaded day of action in Las Vegas.

 

Minnesota Timberwolves vs. Milwaukee Bucks

The Minnesota Timberwolves come into Wednesday following their first loss of the season after falling 70-63 against the Memphis Grizzlies. Offensively Minnesota was terrible making only 34.8% of their shots and 12.1% from beyond the arc, while turning the ball over 22 times to score only 63 total points. Kevon Harris carried the offensive load for Minnesota with 17 points and three rebounds in the game. Much like Minnesota Milwaukee comes into Wednesday after dropping their first game of the summer to the Boston Celtics. Offensively Milwaukee shot the ball well making 48.7% of their shots to score 109 total points but the defense struggled as Boston shot 47.3% from the floor and 41.3% from beyond the arc leading to the victory. Sandro Mamukelashvili carried the offensive load for Milwaukee with 28 points and nine rebounds on 9 of 19 shooting in 31 minutes on the floor. The Milwaukee Bucks have a distinct advantage in this game with a deeper more talented roster. Milwaukee will lean on their roster and their experience to get the victory on Wednesday.

Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Charlotte Hornets

The Cleveland Cavaliers continue their summer league on Wednesday following an 8 point loss to the Denver Nuggets last game out. Offensively Cleveland shot the ball well making 42.2% of their shots to score 76 points in the game but turned the ball over 15 times in the last. RJ Nembhard Jr. led the way for the Cleveland offense with 19 points on seven of 13 shooting in 33 minutes on the floor. The Charlotte Hornets come into Wednesday following their first win of the summer after getting by the Lakers 89-86 in double overtime last game out. Defensively Charlotte played well holding Los Angeles to 40% from the floor and 32.3% from beyond the arc, while forcing 15 turnovers in the victory. Ty-Shon Alexander led the way for Charlotte with a team high 22 points off the bench. Both teams have been lackluster this summer, but Charlotte has the younger hungrier roster. Look for Charlotte to do enough down the stretch on Wednesday to get their second win of the summer.

Pick: Charlotte Hornets

 

Washington Wizards vs. New Orleans Pelicans

The Washington Wizards are 1-1 this summer following a blowout 25 point win over Phoenix in their last game. Offensively Washington was dominant making 46.5% of their shots and 34.8% from beyond the arc who scored 97 total points in the game. Vernon Carey Jr. led the way for Washington with 15 points and 11 rebounds on four of nine shooting in 19 minutes on floor. The New Orleans Pelicans come into Wednesday following their first win of the summer after blowing out the Atlanta Hawks. Defensively the Pelicans were dominate holding Atlanta to 73 total points on 31.7% shooting. Offensively New Orleans was lights out making 55.7% of their shots to score 101 total points. Trey Murphy III led the way for the Pelicans with 30 points on 10-18 shooting. New Orleans is the better team on both sides of the ball and it will show on Wednesday. Take the Pelicans to get by Washington in route to their second win of the summer.

Toronto Raptors vs. Utah Jazz

The Toronto Raptors come into game two of their summer league undefeated at 1-0 overall following a 20 point blowout win of the Philadelphia 76ers. Offensively Toronto was dominant making 43.2% of their shots to score 97 total points in the game including 56 in the second half. Armoni Brooks carried the scoring load for Toronto with 25 points on 9 of 18 shooting. The Utah Jazz are 2-0 this summer following a one point victory over Dallas on Monday. Offensively Utah struggled in the game making only 31% from the floor and beyond the arc but made 22 free throws leading to the win. Tacko Fall led the way for the Utah offense with 12 points and 15 rebounds in 17 minutes off the bench. Both teams come into Wednesday undefeated, but Toronto has a deeper and more talented roster that will be the difference. Take Toronto to do enough Wednesday afternoon to extend their undefeated streak with a win over Utah.

Sacramento Kings vs. Oklahoma City Thunder 

The Sacramento Kings come into game three of the summer league after a 103-96 win over the Indiana Pacers bringing the team record to 1-1. Offensively Sacramento shot the ball extremely well making 49.3% of their shots and 43.9% from beyond the arc leading to the victory. Keegan Murray led the way for the Sacramento offense with a team high 23 points as one of five starters in double figures. The Oklahoma City Thunder are 1-1 this summer following an 84-81 win over the Orlando Magic on Monday. Defensively Oklahoma City was lights out holding Orlando to 36.4% shooting in 24.3% from beyond the arc, while forcing 17 turnovers. Number 2 overall pick Chet Holmgren led the way for Oklahoma City with 16 points on seven of 10 shooting. Both teams come into Wednesday following a win, but Sacramento has a deeper roster. Sacramento can get double digit scoring from every starter and that will lead them to the win on Wednesday. Take Sacramento to pick up their second victory of the summer over Oklahoma City.

Miami Heat Vs. Philadelphia 76ers

The Miami Heat come into Wednesday undefeated this summer after their only game thus far. Miami beat the reigning Eastern Conference champion Boston Celtics 88-78 to open their Summer League. Offensively Miami was dominant against Boston making 44.6% of their shots to score 88 points in the game. Mychael Mulder led the way for the Miami offense with 23 points on seven of 12 shooting in 27 minutes off the bench. The Philadelphia 76ers are winless this summer following a seven point loss to Brooklyn last game out. Offensively Philadelphia shot 40.7% from the floor and 32.1% from beyond the arc to score only 84 total points. Cassius Winston was the biggest spark for Philadelphia with 16 points, 7 rebounds, and five assists. The Philadelphia 76ers are one of the worst teams in the summer league and will continue to struggle on Wednesday. Look for Miami to overwhelm Philadelphia with a more talented roster leading to the victory.

Pick: Miami Heat 

 

Denver Nuggets vs. Los Angeles Clippers

The Denver Nuggets continue their summer league on Wednesday against the Los Angeles Clippers following their first victory of the summer. Denver improved to 1-1 overall last game out after an 84-76 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers. Offensively Denver was the better team making 44.9% of their shots in 28.1% from beyond the arc. Peyton Watson carried the Denver offense with 19 points on 8 of 12 from the floor. The Los Angeles Clippers look to continue their run-on Wednesday following an 18 point victory over the Memphis Grizzlies to open their summer. Los Angeles scored 94 points in game one of the summer league on 41.9% shooting in 39.3% from beyond the arc. Brandon Boston Jr. led the way for the Los Angeles starters with 15 points in 22 minutes and Reggie Perry posted a team high 17 points in 15 minutes on the floor. The Los Angeles Clippers have a more talented roster in this game and an edge with NBA experience. Look for Los Angeles to lean on their experience and talent to improve to 2-0 with a win on Wednesday.
