NBA Summer League Best Bets Saturday 7/17/22 - NBA Picks & Predictions

The NBA Summer League comes to a close on Sunday with 6 games on the board. With only 6 games left there will be an abundance of action as many players are still fighting for contracts and minutes with a team.

 

Portland Trailblazers vs. New York Knicks, NYK -2 ; O/U 174.5

The Summer League Championship takes place Sunday afternoon as the Portland Trailblazers take on the New York Knicks. Portland comes into Sunday running through the summer 3-1 overall on a 3 game win streak following an 85-77 win over the Houston Rockets. Defensively the Blazers dominated holding 31.8% shooting and 18.4% from beyond the arc. Keon Johnson led the way for Portland with a team high 25 points. The New York Knicks have been one of the best teams in the Summer League 3-1 overall after a 14 point win over Orlando on Thursday. Quentin Grimes carried the Knicks offense with 22 and 4 assists as one of 5 Knicks starters in double figures. The New York Knicks have a deeper more talented roster that will be the difference in this game. Take the Knicks Sunday to do enough to get the win and take home the Championship.

Milwaukee Bucks vs. Toronto Raptors, TOR -1.5 ; O/U 172.5

The Milwaukee Bucks come into Sunday playing well this summer with a record of 3-1 overall riding a 2 game win streak. The Bucks beat the Dallas Mavericks 100-89 last game out after shooting 48.4% from the floor and 34.4% from beyond the arc.Lindell Washington led the way for Milwaukee with 25 points and 4 assists.Much like the Milwaukee Bucks the Toronto Raptors come into Sunday 3-1 overall riding a 2 game win streak.The Toronto Raptors defense was on full display holding the Miami Heat to 38.2% shooting, while forcing 19 turnovers. D.J. Wilson dominated for Toronto pouring in a team high 22 points. Toronto has had a better defense this summer and that will be the difference in this game. Look for Toronto to do enough on the final day of the Summer League to get the win and cover.

Phoenix Suns vs. Indiana Pacers, IND -2.5 ; O/U 173.5

The Phoenix Suns come into the final day of the summer league at .500 with a 2-2 record after a 13 point loss to Sacramento in their last game. Offensively Phoenix struggled immensely making only 34.8% of their shots in 29.7% from beyond the arc comma while turning the ball over 13 times to score only 69 points in the game. Ishmail Wainwright was the only bright spot for Phoenix pouring in a team leading 13 points in 30 minutes on the floor. The Indiana Pacers come into the final day of the summer league having had an up and down summer sitting at 2-2 following an 18 point blowout loss to the Washington Wizards on Friday. Defensively Indiana struggled as Washington scored 97 total points in the game on 46.6% shooting from the floor. Kendall Brown led the way for Indiana posting a team high 14 points. Both teams have struggled immensely this summer, but Phoenix is the slightly better overall team. Look for phoenix to use the better roster to overpower Indiana in the final game of the summer.

Oklahoma City Thunder  vs. New Orleans Pelicans, OKC -2.5 ; O/U 167.5

The Oklahoma City Thunder have found a lot of success this summer coming into Sunday 3-1 overall riding a 3 game win streak after an 8 point win against Golden State. Offensively Oklahoma City was locked in posting 90 total points on 43.8% shooting as a team. Jeremiah Robinson-Earl led the way for Oklahoma City with a team high 15 points as one of six players in double figures. The New Orleans Pelicans come into Sunday 2-2 overall following an 8 point loss to the Los Angeles Lakers. Offensively New Orleans struggled as Los Angeles scored 102 total points on 46.3% shooting and 47.2% from beyond the arc. Tyrique Jones was the biggest piece in the New Orleans lineup with 11 points and a team leading 13 rebounds. Both teams come into Sunday having played well this summer as each has a high scoring offense. Look for both offenses to remain locked in as this total will go over in the final game of the summer league for these two teams.

Pick: Oklahoma City Thunder/New Orleans Pelicans Over 167.5

Washington Wizards vs. Golden State Warriors, GSW -3.5; O/U 172.5

The Washington Wizards come into Sunday having a mediocre summer sitting at 2-2 overall after in 18 point blowout of the Indiana Pacers. Offensively Washington had their best game of the summer making 46.6% of their shots to score 97 total points including 52 in the second-half. Jordan Shakel led the way for Washington with 21 points and seven rebounds in the game. The Golden State Warriors come into Sunday with only one win in four games this summer riding a two game losing streak after an 8 point loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder. Offensively Golden State shot the ball well scoring 82 points on 43.3% shooting but turned the ball over 17 times leading to the loss. Jonathan Kuminga led the way for Golden State with 16 points and four rebounds in 27 minutes on the floor. The Washington Wizards have been the better team this summer and will finish things off on a positive note. Look for Washington to do enough to get by Golden State to finish their summer with a victory.

Pick: Washington Wizards +3.5

Denver Nuggets vs. Utah Jazz, UTA -2.5 ; O/U 166.5

The Denver Nuggets have had a lackluster summer thus far coming into Sunday 2-2 overall after a 26 point blowout loss to the Philadelphia 76ers. Offensively Denver was obliterated as Philadelphia scored 97 total points on 48.6% shooting in 42.4% from beyond the arc. The Denver offense didn't play well converting on 35.6% of their shots, while turning the ball over 18 times in the last. Christian Braun was the only real bright spot for Denver with 11 points, 6 rebounds, and six assists. The Utah Jazz come into the final day of the summer league streaking in the wrong direction on a 2 game losing streak after a 17 point loss to the Los Angeles Clippers. The  Utah offense was nonexistent against Los Angeles shooting 31.8% from the floor and 24.1% from beyond the arc to score only 65 total points including nine in the fourth quarter. Neither team has played well this season, but Denver is the better team in this matchup. Look for Denver to end their summer on a high note with a win.
