NBA DPOY Odds 2022/2023

With the NBA season looming the top defenders in the league are already making their arguments as to why they should be this years DPOY. A former multi time Defensive Player of the Year leads the way as the odds on favorite with several other elite defenders closely at his heel.

Rudy Gobert

Rudy Gobert has had a stellar NBA career thus far winning multiple defensive player of the year awards in Utah. Now this season Rudy will be in a new atmosphere surrounded by a team with better perimeter defenders and another top tier big man alongside him. Gobert dominated the league last season leading the way as the top defensive rebounder and a top 5 shot blocker making him the odds on favorite to take home the defensive player of the year award this season.

Bam Adebayo

Bam Adebayo most likely would have taken home his first defensive player of the year award a year ago if he would have been able to stay on the court. Now healthy coming into the 2022-2023 NBA season Bam will immediately make his presence known. As the rim protector for one of the better teams in the Eastern Conference Adebayo will shine within the Miami Heat rotation making him a worthwhile long shot to take home the award.

Robert Williams 

Robert Williams started the season last year getting spot minutes here and there but as Boston made their deep run in the playoffs William saw his role increase. A projected starter this year on perhaps the best team in the Eastern Conference Williams will make his impact every night. Williams is surrounded by young talent hungry to return to the Finals and Boston could go as far as their big man in the middle takes them this season.

Giannis Antetokounmpo

A former defensive player of the year and two time MVP Giannis is usually the best player on the floor in every game he is in. Giannis will again be a key factor in the NBA this season and will make his presence known on both sides of the floor. With new additions to the roster Giannis will not be relied upon as heavily to be a defensive presence which is why he has fallen in the preseason odds to take home the award. If the Bucks make a deep run or win the number one seed in the east Giannis could be a worthwhile long shot to take home the award.
