On Wednesday, the Washington Mystics (5-4) look to snap a three-game losing streak when they visit the Eastern Conference first place team the Connecticut Sun (7-1) in a WBNA showdown.
The Mystics lost to Minnesota 88-80 in their most recent outing last Thursday. Washington was outscored 20-11 in the final quarter after leading by one point after three quarters. Natasha Cloud led the Mystics with 17 points while Kristi Toliver added 15.
Connecticut won its second straight game on Saturday defeating the Minnesota Lynx 89-75. Courtney Williams led the sun with 22 points while Jasmine Thomas chipped in with 18 points. Chiney Ogwumike scored 11 points and grabbed a team high 11 rebounds.
Elena Delle Donne leads the Mystics in scoring and rebounding averaging 14.8 points and 6.2 rebounds per game. Kristi Toliver is close behind with an average of 14.4 points per game. Natasha Cloud leads the team in assists with an average of 5.3 per game. Ariel Atkins (12.2ppg) and Tianna Hawkins (10.9ppg) are the only other Mystics players averaging double figures on scoring.
Jasmine Thomas leads the Sun in scoring and assists with an average of 14.0 points and 5.1 assists per game. Alyssa Thomas leads the Sun in scoring, rebounding and is second in assists averaging 13.3 points, 10.8 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game. Six players on the Sun are averaging double figures in scoring. Alyssa Thomas is leading the regulars shooting 50.6% from the field hitting 42 of her 83 field goal attempts.
