Mystics at Mercury 8/7/18 - WNBA Picks & Predictions

On Tuesday the Washington Mystics look for their third straight victory when they visit the desert southwest to play the Phoenix Mercury. The Mystics defeated the Dallas Wings on Sunday 76-74 as Kristi Toliver’s fade-away jumper hit its mark with 1.4 seconds remaining giving the Mystics the win and keeping them 1 ½ games behind first place Atlanta in the Eastern Conference.

Phoenix lost for the fifth time in its last six games on Sunday falling to the Los Angeles Sparks 78-75. The Mercury were outscored 17-2 late in the second quarter to trail by 10 at the half. The game remained close the entire second half but the Sparks hit free throws late to seal the victory. Brittney Griner led the Mercury in the loss with 22 points. Elena Delle Donne leads the Mystics in scoring and rebounding averaging 20.2 points and 7.4 rebounds per game. Three other players, led by Kristi Toliver (13.5 ppg) are scoring in double figures for the Mystics. Toliver leads the team in assists with an average of 4.6 per game. Washington is scoring an average of 84.2 points per game.

Diana Taurasi is the leading scorer and leader in assists for the Mercury with averages of 20.6 points and 4.8 assists per game. Brittney Griner is the second leading scorer and leader in rebounding with averages of 20.3 points and 7.1 rebounds per game. DeWanna Bonner is the only other player on the Mercury averaging double figures in scoring with an average of 16.6 points per game. Phoenix is scoring an average of 84.4 points per game.
