The Washington Mystics (4-0) will visit the Phoenix Mercury (2-2) on Wednesday in the desert southwest for a WNBA tilt.
The Mystics play Tuesday at Seattle before traveling to take on the Mercury the following night. Washington has started its season strong winning each of its first four games by an average of 8.25 points. Their most recent win was a 90-78 victory over the Minnesota Lynx in which Kristi Toliver scored 19 points.
Phoenix opened the season with two straight wins, but has lost two straight including an 80-72 setback at the hands of the Los Angeles Sparks on Sunday. In the loss, Sancho Lyttle led the Mercury with 20 points.
Elena Delle Donne leads the Mystics in scoring and rebounding averaging 16.5 points and 7.3 rebounds per game. Two other Mystics Kristi Toliver (14.0 ppg) and Tianna Hawkins (10.0 ppg) are averaging double figures in scoring. The leader in assists is Natasha Cloud averaging 5.0 per game. Toliver is shooting 44% from 3-point territory hitting 11 of her 25 shots from beyond the arc.
Brittney Griner leads the Mercury in scoring with an average of 19.3 points per game. Two other players for the Mercury are averaging double figures in scoring – Diana Taurasi (18.0 ppg) and DeWanna Bonner (12.0 ppg). The leading rebounding is Bonner who is averaging 7.5 boards per game. The leader in assists is Briann January with an average of 5.0 per game.
