On Saturday, the Minnesota Lynx (3-5) visit the Connecticut Sun (6-1) in a WNBA Saturday matinee.
The Lynx won their last outing 88-80 on the road over the Washington Mystics snapping a 4-game losing skid in the process. In the Thursday night win, Sylvia Fowles led the Lynx with 21 points and 12 boards, while Maya Moore chipped in with 19 points.
On Thursday, the Connecticut also won its last outing as the Sun knocked off the New York Liberty 88-86 in a thriller. Shekinna Stricklen made a four-point play as time ran out to give the Sun the win. Stricklen sank a three-pointer from the right side at the buzzer and was fouled on the play and sank the free throw. Connecticut rallied from a 13-point halftime deficit in the win.
Maya Moore leads the Lynx in scoring and is third in rebounding with averages of 17.6 points and 5.5 rebounds per game. Sylvia Fowles is the second leading scorer and leading rebounding with averages of 16.8 points and 11.9 rebounds per game. Lindsay Whalen leads the Lynx in assists with an average of 3.5 per game. Seimone Augustus is the only other player averaging double-figures in scoring with an average of 11.8 points per game.
Alyssa Thomas leads the Sun in scoring and rebounding averaging 14.1 points and 10.7 rebounds per game. Thomas is also second in assists averaging 4.6 per game. Five other players on the Sun are averaging double figures for the well-balanced scoring attack of Connecticut. The leader in assists is Jasmine Thomas with an average of 5.3 per game.
