Los Angeles Lakers at Golden State Warriors 10/18/22 - NBA Picks & Predictions

In the second game of an NBA opening night doubleheader, the Los Angeles Lakers will visit the Golden State Warriors. The Lakers (33-49) are looking to rebound after finishing in the bottom third of the league in offensive and defensive efficiency. Last time out, Los Angeles shot 36 percent from the field and turned the ball over 23 times during an ugly 133-86 road loss against Sacramento.

LeBron James and Austin Reaves led Los Angeles with 10 points each on a combined 8-for-19 from the field. Russell Westbrook came off the bench and exited the game with a hamstring injury.

The Golden State Warriors have won four of the previous eight NBA Championships and are the favorites to repeat this season. The Warriors made their reputation based on their long range shooting prowess, but led the league in defensive efficiency during their title run. In their preseason finale, Golden State was outscored by 22 points during the third quarter of a 119-112 home loss versus Denver.

Sharp-shooting G Klay Thompson matched a game-high with 17 points on 5-for-8 from the three-point line. Jonathan Kuminga added 17 points, seven assists, and six rebounds for the Warriors.

Golden State has signed G Jordan Poole to a four-year, $140 million dollar extension. The Lakers struggled to space the floor because of their lack of shooting and failed to address that adequately in the offseason. Back the Warriors and their elite defense to cover at home. Final Score Prediction, Golden State Warriors win 119-108.
