The New York Liberty hit the road on Friday in search of their fourth straight victory when they visit the Phoenix Mercury. New York defeated the Seattle Storm on the road Wednesday 84-83. Tina Charles led the Liberty with 26 points, five boards and four assists. Close behind was Kia Nurse with 24 points. New York opened the season 0-4 but has gone 6-3 since.

Phoenix has won three straight as well after defeating the Seattle Storm 69-67 on Sunday. DeWanna Bonner and Brittney Griner led the Mercury with 20 points apiece. The Mercury announced that veteran Diana Taurasi could make her season debut on Friday against the Liberty after missing the first 13 games due to a back injury. Tina Charles is leading New York in scoring and rebounding with averages of 18.9 points and 8.2 rebounds per game. Kia Nurse is second in scoring with an average of 16.0 points per game. Brittany Boyd is the assists leader with an average of 6.2 per game. Four players on the Liberty are averaging double figures in scoring.

DeWanna Bonner leads the Mercury in scoring and in rebounding with averages of 20.2 points and 7.6 rebounds per game. Brittney Griner is second in scoring and second in rebounding with averages of 17.4 points and 7.0 rebounds per game. Leilani Mitchell leads in assists with an average of 4.6 per game.

Both teams have won three straight but the advantage here goes to Phoenix. The Mercury will be playing at home and could receive a huge emotional boost if Diana Taurasi is able to return to action. The Mercury are visibly a less talented team without the playmaker and scorer on the court. Final Score Prediction, Phoenix Mercury wins and covers ATS 85-73.
